2008 HED Picturing Change Photography Competition

Last Updated Sep 2008

Higher Education for Development is pleased to announce the 2008 HED Picturing Change Photography Competition!

This is your chance to highlight your partnership's innovative solutions to the challenges facing the developing world.

Picturing Change is intended to illustrate the engagement of the higher education community in HED partnerships through the many ways that the host country institution, the U.S. institution, and their communities’ benefit from partnership activities.

Entries will be judged on how well they address development themes and on artistic merit.

The winners will receive a cash award and be featured on the homepage of HED’s website (www.HEDprogram.org) and in other promotional material.  All entries will be displayed in a special photo gallery on the website.

Official Contest Rules

Caption: Each entry must include a short (approximately 250 words) description of the photo, including the names of all pictured. For the description, you may wish to consider the following:

    * Who/what is the photo about?
    * What motivated you to take it?
    * Why is it important?
    * What was going on at the time you took this photo?
    * How does it address development themes?

Previous winners: Picturing Change Photo Competition

Extended Deadline: September 24th, 2008, 5:00pm ET

Eligibility: Entrants must be part of a current HED partnership, and the submitted photo should reflect activities of that partnership.

Entries must be the original work of the person submitting, and may not have been previously published or subject to copyright. While multiple submissions are allowed, each entrant is eligible to receive one award only.

Judging: Entries will be judged by HED staff both on how well they address development themes and on artistic merit.

Prizes: The First Place winner will receive a $100 award. Second Place will receive $75 and Third Place will receive $50.

Please do NOT imbed photos in a Word document or PDF; photos may be emailed directly to HED or burned on to a CD and mailed to HED’s office.

Return of photos: Photos, regardless of the medium, will not be returned. Please do not send your only copy of a photo.
