Nurturing a Small Business in Mexico
With the help of a USAID-funded HED partnership, a small business owner gets back on his feet and his business off the ground.
Assignments are designed to meet the specific needs of the requesting USAID Mission. The development specialist may provide analytical, advisory, technical, or operational services. For example:

  • Program development activities might include: analytical research, country studies, analysis of strategic objectives, input into planning and design of objectives, and consultation on program development.
  • Project design activities might include needs assessment; recommendations for interventions programs; analysis of strategic objectives; design of solicitations; and development and implementation of programs, conferences, workshops, and training activities. 
  • Monitoring, reporting and evaluation activities might include identification of reporting indicators; monitoring plans for tracking interventions at all levels; evaluation designs for impact assessments of specific projects or partnerships; evaluations of projects, partnerships, programs, and/or organizations; suggestions for information collection techniques that are valid, reliable, and consistent; assistance with database design and summarization of information; analysis of results; preparation of program histories; and preparation of success stories, lessons learned, and promising practices. 
  • Technical support activities might include baseline surveys; recommendations on work plan targets for indicators; development and assessment of programs, program materials, training programs, or training materials; implementation of interventions in specific sectors; and field research, training, and outreach.
