This partnership will establish a consortium of agricultural universities in Southern Russia, to expand on a recently developed continuing education program for veterinary professionals and to establish a curriculum to grant a joint certificate for completing a series of courses concerning small businesses in agriculture.  The consortium will establish a Regional Distance Learning Center (RDLC) where veterinarian and small agribusiness professionals located near RDLC institutions can complete their curriculum requirements at a Distance Learning Access Point.  The partnership will use an innovative approach to match educational need with users’ capabilities—not simply use and test the latest and highest level of technology. The activities support the following USAID’s areas of strategic interest: 1) to improve higher education leadership and administrative transformation, 2) workforce development systems with community colleges, 3) the quality of teacher training colleges and institutes, and 4) the private sector development and alliances.
