This collaboration brings together the resources and expertise of the Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) and Balkh University Faculty of Agriculture (BUFA), in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, with additional support from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and the Northwest Frontier Agricultural University (NWFPAU) in Pakistan. The higher education assistance project between SIUC and BUFA provides for the development of technical knowledge and expertise in the Departments of Plant Science, Animal Science, and Forestry/Horticulture, modernization of curriculum, and for enhanced teaching techniques and technologies for application within the classroom and in the field.
