These institutions are enhancing the capacity of Universidad de Colima (CU) to support rural outreach and extension education by (1) providing faculty exchanges and formal graduate education in veterinary medicine, agriculture, and business; and (2) providing outreach and continuing education programs for citizens, farmers, and working professionals in the state of Colima. Detailed planning on student logistics, administering the program, and launching the outreach segment was completed in August 2004. Planning continues in the relevant departments at Iowa and CU. Seven students at CU applied for the first exchange, to begin their studies at Iowa in fall 2005.
