This partnership will address issues relating to food production and small farm development, natural resources management, and income production/marketing for emerging enterprises in the Sierra Tarahumara. The partnership will support seven scholars who will complete master’s degrees at NMSU in areas such as agriculture and organic food production, natural resource management, and developing and marketing micro-enterprises. Each scholar will complete a thesis on a development area of importance to the Sierra and continue to work for the benefit of the Sierra for at least two years. The partners will deliver at least seven training events using best practices in adult education and the “train the trainer” model and will execute recommended marketing strategies for Sierra products in Mexico and the United States.
