This TIES partnership builds on an existing 37-year relationship between the institutions. Through their partnership, Southern Oregon University (SOU) and Universidad de Guanajuato (UG) established new ways to collaborate, including student, faculty, and staff exchanges and a master’s program in management (MiM) offered in the Bajio area in Mexico. The 43 students enrolled in the first two cohort groups of the MiM included 15 UG faculty, who improved their academic credentials through the program and thus strengthened their teaching and research capacity, and 28 decision makers in Mexican enterprises and government, whose skills in the workforce were strengthened through the program. In addition, four UG faculty members participated in exchange programs at SOU. The managers who graduate from the MiM will enhance future regional economic development. Beyond this result, the TIES program has provided seed money for economic development by establishing a self-supporting academic program to prepare
