The partnership between Southwestern and Tecnológico (Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey) prepared a new generation of lawyers to practice law in settings involving oral advocacy and adversarial systems of justice and encourage skills-based legal education and comparative perspectives.  The partners offered (1) intensive skills training in the US for seven Mexican law graduates; (2) oral advocacy training for 115 attorneys in Nuevo León, Chihuahua and Tamaulpas in coordination with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy; (3) an interscholastic trial advocacy program with Mexico's first annual national competition between student teams from different law schools; and (4) comparative law lectures and interchanges including special lectures, panels and short courses in the US and Mexico with particular focus on criminal procedure reform and skills training. The work of the partners has led to the establishment of a permanent trial advocacy training center at ITESM-Monterrey.
