These partners are strengthening teacher preparation programs for primary and secondary education in the state of Veracruz by equipping faculty with new skills, pedagogical techniques and curricula in math, science, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) through master’s degree training internships, practical experiences, and faculty exchanges. The partnership is (1) offering master degree training at UGA for seven Mexican graduate students/faculty; (2) conduct assessment and training programs for UPV and BENV faculty and administrators in key areas—math, science and ESOL; (3) enhancing the institutional capacity of UPV and BENV to provide appropriate in-service training and distance learning for teachers in low-income, rural communities in Veracruz; and (4) improving faculty expertise at UPV an BENV in teacher training, continuing education programs, and program evaluation.
