This partnership will incorporate master’s research as an important component of an ongoing large-scale community forestry project, including the first-ever national study of Mexican community forestry. It will also expand faculty exchanges and research in this crucial field for Mexican rural development. The partnership will support seven one-year graduate fellowships for Mexican participants, three in the United States and four in Mexico with U.S. faculty participation. In addition, two Mexican faculty members will visit the United States for one-year sabbaticals and for appropriate specialty training.
