IIT and ITESM will educate future leaders of Mexican companies, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies on the necessity of developing sound environmental management strategies for energy and pollution prevention and give them the knowledge and experience to implement these strategies. The partnership will strengthen U.S.-Mexican collaboration by utilizing IIT’s M.S. in environmental management program and the integrated dual-degree program between IIT and ITESM to offer 16 scholarships and internships, as well as workshops and short courses on topics such as energy, environment and economics, developing and auditing environmental management systems, and the application of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS). Activities will also include training for students and working professionals on environmental assessment, monitoring, mitigation, risk assessment, and pollution prevention in a classroom setting.
