As senior program associate, Ms. Marilyn Crane is responsible for managing partnership programs in North Africa, the Middle East, sub-Saharan and Eastern Africa, Brazil, and Haiti.
Among other programs, Ms. Crane is primarily responsible for the U.S.-Middle East University Partnerships program, the Broader Middle East and North Africa-U.S. Community Colleges Small Grants Initiative, the U.S.-Haiti Higher Education Partnership Program, the Civic Education Partnership Initiative, the Transforming CBNRM Education in Southern Africa program, and the U.S.-Brazil Bi-National Exchange.
Before coming to HED, Ms. Crane worked at the International Women’s Forum, where she was associate director of programs, and the Aspen Institute's International Peace, Security, & Prosperity Program.
Ms. Crane earned her bachelor’s degree in international studies, with a correlate in French, from Vassar College and studied overseas at L'Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris. She speaks French, basic Spanish and Arabic.
