Contact: Marilyn Crane, Senior Program Specialist UPDATED May 22, 2012
Subject to the availability of U.S. government funds, HED anticipates issuing five (5) Requests for Applications (RFAs) in late March and early April for human and institutional capacity building higher education partnerships in Armenia, Paraguay, Rwanda and South Sudan focused on strengthening women’s leadership.
The new USAID Women’s Leadership Program will support national and local development goals that promote gender equality and female empowerment in the targeted countries. Two RFAs will be issued for partnerships in Rwanda, and one RFA will be issued for each of the other three countries.
- Armenia: The partnership will focus on advancing women’s leadership by helping women move into careers that will offer the potential for upward mobility and prepare women for leadership roles in the public and private sectors.
- Paraguay: The partnership will center on strengthening higher education institutional capacity to produce well prepared women leaders through training in workforce leadership skills focused on the agricultural sector.
- Rwanda: One partnership will focus on increasing women’s access to advanced degrees in agricultural sciences and women’s empowerment in agriculture. The second partnership will focus on improving women’s access to advanced credentials in the field of education and gender sensitive curricula for teacher training and teaching materials for basic education.
- South Sudan: The partnership will center on strengthening the capacity in higher education institutions to advance women’s leadership programming by targeting access to, quality of, and outreach in higher education.
