In the United States, community colleges provide a broad array of programs delivering high-quality, cost-effective education to people seeking to enhance their career prospects and quality of life. Community colleges also prepare a variety of first responders in fields such as health care and information technology.

Developing a sound workforce system is critical to economic growth and poverty reduction. A better-prepared workforce is particularly critical in countries facing challenges such as high levels of youth unemployment, or addressing the impact of HIV/AIDS on the population. For these reasons, workforce development partnerships between U.S. community colleges and international higher education institutions are a natural fit.

This fact sheet explores the successes of several HED higher education partnerships between U.S. community colleges and higher education institutions outside the U.S.
